Tribology in Total Hip Arthroplasty: Historical Development and Future Trends
Arthritis is a common disease in the elderly population. The most frequent treatment of arthritis is a total joint replacement. Approximatively 1.100.000 hip endoprostheses are implanted per year worldwide. This procedure is very successful in more than 90 % of the patients with good results after up to 10-year follow-ups. Unfortunately, due to the body’s reaction against the wear particles, th...

Tribology of Carbon-Based Coatings: Past, Present, and Future
During the last three decades, carbon-based coatings have enjoyed a growing interest in several industrial applications. By tuning the C sp-to-sp bonding ratio and by alloying the carbon with other elements, the researchers have been able to tailor unique physical, mechanical, and tribological properties in order to satisfy an increased technological demand. For instance, the low-friction coeff...

Introduction For any organisation the measurement of work performed provides information about output and is regarded as essential datum for effective management. Workload measurement indicates what is being produced and forms a critical part of the total information necessary for planning, programming, budgeting, monitoring and staffing an organisation. Within the National Health Service the G...
متن کاملBio-tribology and Its Applications in Medical Sciences - a Review
Tribology is the science of rubbing, friction and wear. When biological systems especially human joints such as knees, hips etc which continuously move relative to one another are studied, tribology becomes biotribology. To understand the wear performance of the implant and effects of synovial fluid principles of biotribology are required. In this paper few papers are reviewed related to applic...
